Braga is one of Portugal's youngest cities, with a large university and plenty of people who ask their phone first. More and more, that question goes to ChatGPT: "a good physiotherapist in Braga", "where to have dinner near the Sé". The answer depends on the whole brand, and that is what our GEO and SEO consulting works on.
GEO is optimising a brand for generative engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity; SEO is the part that optimises the website for Google. Our piece on what GEO is explains the difference without jargon.
This article is about being found. For replying in time to messages and bookings, see the AI assistant for Braga businesses.
A young city searches differently
People in their twenties rarely go past the first answer. They ask ChatGPT, look at the brand's Instagram and read two or three reviews before deciding. With an audience like that, a beautiful website with a neglected Google profile and patchy social media loses to the place next door that replies to its reviews.
Then there is the Braga, Guimarães, Barcelos and Famalicão corridor, where many brands serve several towns. Stating clearly which areas you cover, on every front, helps ChatGPT tie you to the right questions.
The four fronts of a Braga brand
- Google Business Profile. The right category, real opening hours, recent photos and the area you serve.
- Website. One page per service, with the answer in the first line. This is where SEO works.
- Social media. Instagram and TikTok with the same name, description and contact. For a young audience they are often the first visit.
- Reviews and replies. On Google and sector sites, in Portuguese and, more and more, in Spanish: Galicia is little more than an hour away. Replying to each one, in the language it was written in, counts.

Bom Jesus do Monte: the question asked at the top of the stairway
The Bom Jesus do Monte sanctuary, with its baroque stairway and the water-powered funicular from 1882, has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2019 and is Braga's postcard. People who reach the top, with the city below, often ask ChatGPT where to eat or stay nearby.
A brand that writes "10 minutes from Bom Jesus" on its site, its Google profile and its social media, and sees customers repeat it in reviews, gives ChatGPT the link it needs.

Where we start
- Measure. We ask ChatGPT what a Braga customer would ask, in Portuguese and in Spanish, and count the mentions. Messgeo, our own GEO tool, repeats the measurement every month.
- Align the four fronts. Google profile, website, social media and reviews with the same facts.
- Answer. Every review and the real questions customers ask, in writing.
- Earn mentions across the region. Minho guides, sector directories, local press.
- Repeat every month. Models update and answers shift.
In two lines
In Braga the decision is made by a young audience that asks ChatGPT and checks Instagram and reviews. GEO looks after all those fronts, SEO after the website within them. Start by measuring where you stand today.
