The Santarém district brings very different worlds together: farming and agribusiness on the Tagus floodplain, religious tourism in Fátima and the heritage of Tomar. In all of them, more and more people ask ChatGPT before choosing whom to call. The answer depends on the whole brand, and that is what our GEO and SEO consulting works on.
GEO is optimising a brand for generative engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity; SEO is the part that optimises the website for Google. Our piece on what GEO is explains the difference without jargon.
This article is about being found. For answering bookings and messages in several languages, see our AI assistant.
One district, very different audiences
A pilgrim arriving in Fátima asks, in their own language, where to stay near the Sanctuary. A farmer looks for an irrigation or farm machinery supplier. A family looks for somewhere to try Ribatejo cooking in Santarém. ChatGPT only recommends well the brands that say clearly which audience they serve, and where.
That is why a brand here does better when it chooses its audience and speaks to it on every front, rather than trying to speak to everyone at once.
The four fronts of a Santarém brand
- Google Business Profile. The right category and the exact town: Santarém, Fátima, Tomar or Torres Novas.
- Website. One page per audience or service, with the answer in the first line; for tourism, in other languages too. This is where SEO works.
- Social media. Instagram or Facebook with the same facts and contacts as the website.
- Reviews and mentions. Google, Booking and TripAdvisor for tourism businesses; sector associations and trade fairs, such as the National Agriculture Fair, for agribusiness.

Portas do Sol: the viewpoint over the Tagus
The Portas do Sol garden, on the site of the old Moorish citadel, opens onto the Tagus and its floodplain. That is where many visitors, after seeing the churches that earned Santarém the name of capital of the Gothic, ask ChatGPT where to try Ribatejo cooking.
A brand that writes "5 minutes from the Portas do Sol" on its site, its Google profile and its social media, and sees it repeated in reviews, gets into that answer.

Where we start
- Measure by audience. We ask ChatGPT the questions of each of your audiences and count the mentions. Messgeo, our own GEO tool, repeats the measurement every month.
- Align the four fronts. The same information, the right town and the same contacts.
- Answer every review, in the language it arrives in.
- Earn mentions across the region. Ribatejo and Fátima guides, associations, trade fairs, local press.
- Repeat every month.
In two lines
In the Santarém district, the audiences are many and different. The brand that wins chooses its own and tells it the same thing on every front. GEO looks after the whole, SEO after the website within it.
